I'm a nurse & lifestyle blogger, here to show you how to unhate your nursing career & create a life you love.

hey, i'm Bridget!

In my ten years of nursing, I have purchased scrubs exactly twice.

Yes, just twice.

The first time was right before I started my very first nursing job. The second time was about five years in, when I finally made the switch from night shift to day shift and decided a wardrobe refresh was, quite frankly, very necessary.

Then, when I actually left direct patient care, I had to wear “business casual” for my new hybrid nursing job. I quickly learned that having to actually decide what to wear every morning was kind of exhausting.

Of course, when I came back to direct patient care in 2025 as an oncology infusion nurse, I was unexpectedly excited AF to put my scrubs back on for the first time in 3 years.

BUT…

*dun, dun, duuun*

I had sized out of the previous scrubs set I had owned for almost five years at that point.

Meaning…

I needed new scrubs, and I needed them STAT.

So, let’s get into my personal FIGS scrubs review, why I finally made the switch, why I genuinely think these are the cutest (and fanciest) scrubs I’ve ever owned, and why I’m never looking back.

A Moment of Silence for My Old Scrubs

Before switching to FIGS scrubs, I was a KOI girlie first (throwback to 2016, of course, lol). Then a Med Couture girlie for a hot minute. Either set of scrubs was totally fine and perfectly wearable, but IMO… both were also kind of mid. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I wore each of them without complaint, though, because there was nothing technically wrong with them, after all. They fit okay. And washed okay. And I never found any weird, unexplainable stains or anything like that. But I definitely never felt excited to wear them… they were just scrubs, after all.

And as I was getting ready to start my new job as an oncology infusion nurse and replace my Med Couture set, I found out the brand had technically gone bankrupt… and was out of stock at the scrubs store I had just walked into. And anyway, silly as it sounds, I took that as the universe telling me it was time to try something new.

Why FIGS Scrubs, Though?

Okay, so two things came together at once here.

First, brand recognition:

Just like you, I had seen FIGS scrubs aaall over my social media feeds for years… the nurse influencers, sponsored posts, hospital bathroom selfies, perfectly curated flat lays of color-coordinated scrub sets… uhm, like what??? I am not immune to a good marketing campaign, okay???

But I’m also not oblivious to how “influencing” works and acknowledge that influencers make literally anything look good, so I was never fully convinced.

What actually got me was a coworker of mine who has worn FIGS scrubs exclusively for years (with no incentive, sponsorship, or affiliate link). I mean, when someone you work with shows up in the cutest freaking scrubs you’ve ever seen literally every single day and then tells you that the one brand you’ve avoided for years is actually worth it??? Well, that carries a lot more weight than a perfectly edited Instagram reel, ya know???

Second, the thing that really sealed it was something a little less tangible:

After experiencing some pretty life-altering events in 2025, I came back to direct patient care, and it’s because of those events that I care more now about the small things in life… the things that unexpectedly make life more enjoyable… and I’ve realized that getting dressed for work can be one of those things, too… especially in a career that asks so much of you day after day.

But that realization… that the small things matter, that you’re allowed to want to feel good at work, that making your life just a liiittle more magical every single day is not shallow or silly… that’s kinda what finally pushed me over the edge to invest in FIGS.

Because I figured if I was going to get new scrubs, it would be an investment… I needed to go ALL in, so I bought four pairs of FIGS scrubs all at once lol. And I have zero regrets. 🤪

Style & Fit

The fit across the board is chef’s kiss. Like, I did not expect to feel this genuinely good in SCRUBS of all things. No lie, I actually look forward to getting dressed for my shifts.

For my new FIGS scrubs set, I went with the same style across all four pairs: the Rafaela Oversized Scrub Top and the High-Waisted Isabel Wide Leg Scrub Pants

The Rafaela top has this oversized, relaxed fit that just feels so effortlessly cool. But because of other FIGS scrubs reviews I read online, I decided to size down the Rafaela top to an extra small — and thank goodness I did because that style DOES run big. I even tried an extra, extra small, but all that did was make it slightly shorter and didn’t seem to make the width any smaller… so I ended up returning the 2x small and stuck with the 1x small because of that.

I frequently wear high-waisted pants IRL and am absolutely convinced that it is THE most flattering length for short lil legs like mine lol. So, the high waist on the Isabel pants was non-negotiable, and the wide leg is very much having a moment in regular fashion right now, too, so the style just felt absolutely perfect for me.

However, I will say that the medium size made the length ever so slightly too long for me, and since I didn’t want my pants dragging on the ground, I actually ended up buying taller nursing shoes to adjust for the length (my partner lol’d at this solution by the way 😅). I just couldn’t say ‘no’ to that specific style, even if they are a bit long for me!

Fabric Tech & Colors

Let’s talk about FIGS fabric for a second, because I think their patented fabric is the sole reason these scrubs feel SO high-quality compared to other brands.

FIGS uses its proprietary FIONx™ fabric, which includes 72% polyester, 21% rayon, and 7% spandex. It has four-way stretch, moisture-wicking, anti-wrinkle, and — their words, but I fully agree — ridiculously soft properties. They also use Silvadur™ antimicrobial technology, which provides odor protection and actually inhibits the growth of bacteria, yeast, algae, and other microorganisms that cause odor and fabric damage. Care-wise, wash cold, inside out, and tumble-dry on low.

I feel like their fabric does feel heavier than your average scrub fabric. So if you tend to run hot, that’s probably worth knowing before you commit to a full set. Some people (like one of my non-FIGS-wearing coworkers) find the weight uncomfortable because of that.

But me? I am always, always cold in clinical settings.

Meaning, the weight of the fabric doesn’t bother me one bit. Actually, I kind of love it because it feels substantial and high-quality in a way my old scrubs never did. Plus, it has this almost water-resistant quality to it, too, which, as nurses, we love to see… for very obvious reasons. 😬

Aaand arguably my favorite part about FIGS fabric is that the brand does this whole color drop thing where they release new colors on a rolling basis. And look, I know it’s a bit of a marketing ploy. I’m fully aware of that. However, I genuinely do not care, because I’m absolutely obsessed with every vibrant color option they drop.

The Mission

According to my research, FIGS’ mission is to improve the lives of healthcare professionals worldwide. They created a non-profit called Awesome Humans Foundation, which provides grants and scholarships to support the work healthcare professionals do, the education they need, and the causes they care about.

The foundation and incorporated initiatives cover a lot of ground. We’re talking about ensuring healthcare workers are safe, supported, and valued with access to mental health resources, secure workplaces, fair pay, and fewer administrative burdens. And on a global scale, they’re building ICUs in rural Kenya and advocating in DC for fair pay.

I don’t know about you, but I feel a whole lot better spending my money with a brand that invests in the people who wear its products. That’s actually kind of everything.

Okay, Buuut Are FIGS Scrubs Actually Worth It?

Crazy thing is, most nurses I know seem to say the same thing about the investment, that FIGS scrubs are soOoOo expensive, and that’s why they haven’t made the leap… buuut I just… don’t agree?

If you think about it, a pair of FIGS scrub pants costs less than a decent pair of jeans these days. And you probably don’t think twice about spending that on jeans you only wear once a week. So why would scrubs be any different, especially when you’re wearing them for twelve hours at a time, multiple days a week, for years?

For the quality, the fit, the style, the fabric, and, honestly, just the way they make me feel walking into a shift — I personally feel like FIGS are extremely well priced. And given that I bought scrubs twice in ten years, I think my track record proves I’m not exactly an impulse buyer when it comes to this stuff.

And after wearing them for the last few months (plus taking the cutest brand photos ever in them), I can say that FIGS scrubs are 100% worth the investment, and I am literally never looking back (FIGS for lyfe lol).

TBH, the second I debuted my brand new FIGS scrubs at work, I have been getting the best compliments… from coworkers, from patients, from basically everyone in the clinic… who all think I look so freaking cute, which I couldn’t possibly agree more with. 🥰

After all, cute scrubs might seem like a small thing. But feeling good in what you wear to work is definitely part of building a career and life you actually love living.

disclosure:

life on the road

Just 5 years in, I felt like the only way I’d survive my nursing career was to leave it for good. And I actually tried that. I accepted a remote job and started a business with the intention of never going back. But I quickly found that I was still sleep-deprived, still uninspired, and still burnt out.

Then, my mom died. And I started asking some big questions about who I am and what type of life I wanted to live — which, crazy enough, eventually led me back to direct patient care — this time in an oncology infusion clinic.

Turns out the answer was never in leaving. It was in figuring out how to build my nursing career in a way that would make the life I wanted possible. And that essentially meant reimagining my nursing career as just another side hustle — because you can totally do that these days. 😜

In fact, you can make your career (and life!) into whatever you want. And that’s what this lil blog is all about: learning to treat your nursing career as the foundation of the freedom you desire… asking big questions while discovering more about yourself… figuring out how to care for your nervous system better… and ultimately, creating the life of your dreams along the way.
